Indian seed since the 1990s · DSIR-recognised R&D
Science in every seed.
Surplus in every harvest.
Melbo Life Science breeds and produces hybrid and research seed for paddy, maize, wheat, mustard and pea — and for nineteen vegetable crops. Eighty varieties, each one published with the duration and pack size a farmer actually plans around.
मेल्बो का वादा, फसल पहले से ज्यादा
— Melbo's promise — a bigger harvest than before.
Who we are
A seed company built on three decades of field books
Melbo Life Science Pvt. Ltd. is an Indian agribusiness that develops, produces and markets hybrid and improved seed. The team's experience in the Indian seed industry runs back more than thirty years; the company itself began commercial operations from Bengaluru in 2021, with research based in Hyderabad.
Our strength is breadth with depth. Breeding programmes run in parallel across paddy, maize, wheat, oilseeds and pulses, and across nineteen vegetable crops — so no single season, pest or price swing carries the whole business. Behind it sits in-house research and development recognised by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), Government of India, from 2001 onwards.
Seed is produced with selected Indian growers, processed under controlled conditions and tested against the standards of the Seeds Act, 1966 before it reaches a pack. What is printed on the bag — duration, seed rate, pack weight — is what the farmer gets.

From the trial book
Every variety in this catalogue earned its name in a multi-location trial first. The photographs throughout this site are our own field evaluations — not stock images.

Matched to your season, not to a brochure
The staple acreage, organised the way a farmer decides: by duration. Pick the window you are planting into and the water you can count on.

Paddy
Hybrid and improved rice from 100 to 140 days

Maize
Single-cross hybrids from 65 to 125 days

Firmness, shelf life and disease tolerance decide whether a vegetable crop becomes income or compost. Our hybrids are selected on exactly those traits — then published with the fruit weight, length and tolerance we measured.

F1 hybrids with firm fruit and virus tolerance

Okra
Five-ridged glossy green pods, YVMV tolerant

Why Melbo
Four commitments we are willing to be judged on
Farmer first
Every variety is judged by one measure — what it returns to the farmer who plants it. Duration, pack size and field behaviour are published plainly so a grower can choose with open eyes.
Proof before promise
Varieties move from breeding plot to catalogue only after multi-location trials. Our field books, not our brochures, decide what gets a name.
Genetic depth
Breeding programmes run across paddy, maize, wheat, oilseeds, pulses and nineteen vegetable crops, so a season's risk is never carried by a single line.
Seed you can trust
Production with selected growers, controlled processing and testing against the standards of the Seeds Act, 1966 — germination and purity are not negotiable.
